Henry John Hausner was born in Oswego, Ill., on December 12, 1870 and died at his home in Colfax, Iowa on December 27, 1927, at the age of fifty-seven years and fifteen days. He was of a family of four sisters and five brothers.
In the fall of 1876 he moved with his parents, Leonard and Annie Hausner, to Sumner, Iowa, where he remained until March 1st, 1908 when he came to Colfax, which has been his home ever since.
On August 19, 1897 he was married to Miss Minnie Smith. To them was born one son, Lennie, of Colfax. Besides the wife and son he leaves two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Minnie Sullivan of Minneapolis; Mrs. Maggie Schow of Wells, Minn.; Will Hausner of Detroit, Mich., Ed. Hausner of Brandon, Iowa, and George Hausner of Wessington Springs, South Dakota.
He was converted in 1901, which counted as an epoch in his life, and united with the German Evangelical church. Upon moving to Colfax he became a member of the Methodist church. Of him it may be truthfully said that he sought faithfully to serve his God. He was a man who loved home, a close pal continually to his son, faithful in his work at all times, quiet and industrious, and held in honor and esteem by all who knew him. For many years he had not been in good health and was continually more or less a sufferer. Two weeks ago he was taken with a severe cold bordering upon pneumonia and which aggravating older complaints, brought his death.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist church. Acting as pall bearers were E. S. Forsyth, John Hahn, Spencer Trevethan, Luke Sharples, J. H. Doyle and Ed. Meckley. The services were conducted by Rev. C. H. Hiller, pastor of the church, and by Rev. W. H. Brooks of Des Moines, a former pastor. Interment was had at Highland Cemetery.
Card of Thanks: It is our desire to thank the neighbors and friends for their kindness and sympathy during the illness and death of our husband and father. Also for the beautiful floral offerings. Mrs. H. J. Hausner and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Hausner
