Services Held For C. A. DeReus
Clarence A. DeReus, son of John and Susan DeReus was born in Jasper county near Colfax on January 13, 1894 and departed life on January 30, 1975.
Clarence was a farmer and trucker in later life, continuing until Nov. 12 and had been in declining health since.
He accepted Christ and united with the Methodist Protestant Church in Farrar.
On March 23, 1916 he was united in marriage with Mildred Edith Geddes and to this union was born a son, Clarence Clark on March 1, 1919, who preceded him in death January 30, 1965.
On October 28, 1966 he was united in marriage to Sarah Leonard Geddes at the Farrar United Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, daughter-in-law, Alma Hundley (wife of the late Colonel Clark DeReus), two grandsons, David Lynn DeReus of Akron, Ohio and Major Michael Lee DeReus of Berlin, Germany. Also two great grandchildren Melanie and Jeremy DeReus of Berlin, Germany.
There are two sisters, Mrs. Helen Turney and Mrs. Myrtle Forbes, both of Arizona and a brother, Lloyd DeReus of Mingo.
There are a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted by pastor Lester Hesseltine and were held Monday afternoon Feb. 3rd at Farrar church and burial at Farrar Cemetery.
Music for the service was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Gene Leonard accompanied by Mrs. Keith Munson.
Pall bearers were Harold DeReus, Ralph DeReus, Richard Watkins, Russell Geddes, James Leonard and Bela Norton.
Flowers were handled by Mrs. Doris Norton and Mrs. Geneva Link.
