Arie De Reus, 77 dies on Friday; Services Tuesday
Prairie City – Arie De Reus, 77, of Midtown Apartments in Newton, died Friday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors are two sons, LeRoy of Colfax and Raymond of Reasnor; two daughters Betty De Reus of Newton and Mrs. Warren (Doris) Ross of Des Moines, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Marie Vander Leest of Fort Madison and two brothers, Henry of Prairie City and William of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister.
The son of Henry and Nellie Steenhoek De Reus, he was born Aug. 27, 1903 in Otley.
He was married to Sylvia Miller Jan. 12, 1926 in Ivy.
Mr. De Reus resided in Des Moines for 21 years and also in the Mitchellville, Prairie City, Colfax and Melcher areas.
