Mrs. John Balmer Dies This Morning
Mrs. John Balmer died this morning at 4 o’clock at her home three miles southwest of Kellogg, following a second stroke of paralysis. She was 53 years old. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian church in Kellogg. Burial will be made in Our Silent City.
Emma Sash was born June 21, 1874 in Story county, Ia., and had lived in this state all her life. She was married to John L. Balmer, Jan. 6, 1895 in Kellogg, Ia., where she had made her home ever since.
She is survived by her husband John Balmer, and five children, Mrs. Essie Whitehurst of Pontiac, Ill., Mrs. Della Cortner of Des Moines, three sons, John, Elmer and Charles Balmer of Kellogg and her father, William Sash of Redfield, S.D.
She is also survived by three half-brothers, Carl and Phillip Sash of Laurel, Ia., and Lewis Sash of Brownville, Minn., and three half-sisters, Mrs. Nettie Foreman, Mrs. Sadie Miller and Mrs. Minnie Paul, all of Laurel, Ia.

Rites Held for Kellogg woman
Mrs. John Balmer is Buried in Our Silent City Cemetery This Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. John Balmer, who died Monday morning at her home near Kellogg, were held today at 2 o’clock at the Christian church in Kellogg. Rev. A. V. Hart of Des Moines officiated.
A quartet including T. L. Birchard, Harold T. Powers, R. C. Birchard and Fred Lemke sang “Beautiful Isle of somewhere,” “My Jesus I Love Thee” and “We’re Going Down the Valley.” They were accompanied by Mrs. Henry Wulf.
Pallbearers included Charles Richardson, T. d. Eaton, C. O. McCausland, Len Hinshaw, H. F. Bobzin and R. B. Estabrook. Burial was made in Our Silent City.
