Mrs. Chauncey Akins Died November 30
Mrs. Chauncey (Myrna) Akins, 59, a resident of Mingo and the Mingo Community for more than 50 years died Wednesday morning, November 30th, at her home in that city.
Mrs. Akins had been in failing health for the past three years.
Mrs. Akins is survived by her husband; two sons, Howard and Donald, both of Baxter; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Norman Jean) Schmidt of Baxter and Mrs. Kenneth (Verne) Bucklin of Story City; nine grandchildren; a brother, Dale Harter of Mingo; and a sister, Mrs. Floy Hays of Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Mrs. Akins was a member of the Mingo Methodist church and the WSCS of the church. She was also a member of the Ira Grange, the Graham Cemetery Assn. and the Mingo American Legion Auxiliary.
The daughter of Stillwell and Corda Harter, she was born October 27, 1901 at Maxwell.
She moved with her parents to Mingo in 1904 and received her education in the Mingo Schools.
She was married to Chauncey Akins, April 9, 1924, and they resided on a farm north of Mingo for 22 years, later moving to a farm south of Mingo for 9 years. They moved into the town of Mingo in 1955.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Mingo Methodist church with the Rev. Max Hall, pastor of the church officiating.
Burial was in Graham Cemetery.
