Mrs. Deedrick Stricken While At W.R.C. Meet
Mrs. Blanche Deedrick, 64, long-time Newton resident, died Wednesday night a few minutes after she suffered a heart attack at a Women’s Relief Corps meeting where she was to be installed as an officer.
Mrs. Deedrick collapsed at the meeting, which was being held in the W.R.C. meeting place at the Courthouse, and was taken by ambulance to Skiff Memorial Hospital where she died 15 minutes later.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the First Baptist church. Rev. Benson B. Compton, pastor of the Assembly of God church, will officiate and Toland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The deceased was born Blanche Lust, the daughter of George and Nancy Lust, at Ord, Nebr. on Sept. 24, 1888. She lived most of her life in this area and was the wife of Joe Deedrick, a real estate dealer. Just recently the couple purchased and moved into their home at 109 East Fourth Street South.
Mrs. Deedrick was active in many organizations including the Baptist church, W.R.C., the D.A.R. and the Friendship club.
She is survived by her husband; four sisters, Mabel Lust of Reasnor, Mrs. Vida Van Baren of Cupertina, Calif., Mrs. Lettie Lewis, who is a medical missionary in Liberia, West Africa, and Mrs. Opal Nollen of Pella; two brothers, Leland Lust of Newton and Lawrence Lust of Phoenix, Ariz., five nephews, two nieces and one great-niece.
