Boy Is Killed Accidentally By Shot Gun
Roscoe Milleson, 16 Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Milleson, of Prairie City, Meets Untimely Death
Carried Gun To Use In Killing Squirrels
Funeral Services were Held at 2 O’clock This Afternoon at Brethren Church
Roscoe Milleson, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Milleson, residing two miles west of Prairie City on the White Pole road, was instantly killed Saturday afternoon by the accidental discharge of a shot gun.
Roscoe had the gun on the plow with him for the purpose of shooting squirrels. It is thought that the gun in some manner fell from his hands on the plow. The fall caused the discharge of the gun, the shot hitting Roscoe directly under the right jaw, killing him instantly. He was found about fifteen minutes after the accident, one of the neighbors noticing the team going across the field without any one on the plow. They went over to investigate, and found Roscoe dead.
Roscoe was born in Prairie City August 9, 1902, and in a few years moved with his parents to the farm west of Prairie City where they are now residing. He went to school in district number 8, Washington township.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Brethren church, six miles south of Prairie City, the services being in charge of the Rev. I. W. Brubaker. Interment was made in Griffith cemetery.
Roscoe is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Milleson and one brother, Carl A., now stationed at Camp Dodge.
The sorrowing ones have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their bereavement.
