Baby Strangles To Death
Mother Finds Stricken Child
Coroner McMurray Pronounces Death Accidental; No Inquest Planned
Reasnor – Strangulation caused the death of Ruth Anna Schultz, a seven-month old baby girl early this morning.
The infant child was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schultz, who live three miles east of Reasnor.
Mother Found Her
The mother found the stricken baby when she went to her at about 6:45 a.m. today. Dr. Frank Carpenter of Reasnor, who was called, said the little girl was dead when the mother discovered the child in bed beside her sleeping brother, Joseph Earl, age two years.
Coroner E. A. McMurray of Newton examined the child and said that her death had been caused by strangulation as the result of regurgitation of milk from the stomach into the mouth.
No Inquest
He pronounced the death as accidental and said no inquest will be necessary.
The child leaves, beside her parents and brother, four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Schultz of Reasnor and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mackerman of Newton. The mother was formerly Ruth Mackerman.
Two uncles, Fred Mackerman of Reasnor and Harold Mackerman of Newton, and an aunt, Mrs. Garet Van Wyk, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Morgan’s funeral home in Newton, with burial in Newton Union cemetery. The Rev. H. Leroy Kinser, pastor of the Newton Christian church will be in charge.
