Henry Albert Aillaud was born April 19, 1859 at LeClair, Ia., coming to Jasper county with his parents, William and Kathryn Aillaud, in 1867, when a boy six years old. The family settled on a farm two miles west of Newton, later moving to a farm four and one-half miles southwest of Newton.

Mr. Aillaud had lived in Newton and vicinity practically all his life. He attended the rural schools in this county. He was married to Miss Hannah Whittaker Feb. 19, 1884, and they lived on a farm four and one-half miles southwest of Newton, until 20 years ago, when they moved to Newton.

Mr. Aillaud had been in failing health for the last four years and the cause of his death was hardening of the arteries and heart failure. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge for the last 25 years and was a faithful and active attendant at all the meetings.

He is survived by his widow, two sisters, Mrs. Gardner Dodge and Mrs. J. E. Callison and three brothers, William, Fred and Louie Aillaud, all of Newton, and a number of other relatives ~ The Newton Daily News, April 6, 1927, page 1.
