J. S. Fraaken, 85, Dies Monday, Rites Wednesday
Monroe – John S. Fraaken, 85, of Monroe died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy E. Graham in Des Moines.
Mr. Fraaken, who was born April 9, 1856 at Amsterdam, Holland, came to Jasper county in 1890. He was united in marriage to Minerva Jane Woody July 24, 1881 and to this union ten children were born.
He was a member of the Pentecostal church and of the Three-Quarter Century Club.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Mar. 18, at 2 o’clock at the G.A.R. hall in Monroe with Sister Cline in charge. Interment will be made in the Fairview cemetery at Monroe.
Immediate survivors include seven children: Mrs. Sophia Baker of Indianola; Mrs. John Sedrie of Prairie City; Mrs. C. C. Breuklander of Harvey, Ia.; Mrs. Nellie Graham of Des Moines; Frank Fraaken, Carl Fraaken, and Vernie Fraaken, all of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by Mrs. Fraaken and three children.
