B. F. Rogers Laid to Rest Yesterday P.M.

Benjamin Franklin Rogers was born in Yates county, New York, Feb. 2nd, 1836, and died at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, January 17, 1912, at the age of 76 years. He united with the Baptist church when he was thirteen years old, and had been a loyal member ever since.

He was married in February, 1920, to Miss Mary Hanna, and to this union were born two children, who survive the father. They are George B. of this city and Rev. Lewis B., who is now a missionary in Longoo Burmah. His brother, Dr. L. O. Rogers, of Newton, also survives him.

Mr. Rogers came to Newton in 1890 and since then had been a respected and useful citizen of Newton and vicinity. He was quite prominent in the musical circles of the Baptist church, having beer chorister there for a number of years, and when he was no longer able to assist in church work, his services were greatly missed.

Mr. Rogers had been in failing health for some time and since last July he had been confined to the sanitarium at Mt. Pleasant where his death took place. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of his brother, Dr. L. O. Rogers, conducted by Rev. Leake of the Christian church. Interment was made in the Newton cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, January 29, 1912.
