After an illness of a year John Hanger died at his home at Gowrie yesterday morning about 8 o’clock.

He was the son of the late George Hanger and was formerly a resident of Newton.

He married Miss Mattie Castleman, who is a sister of Mrs. M. E. Hiatt, at whose home the body will be taken when it arrives this evening via Newton & Northwestern.

The funeral party will leave the house tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock and the interment will be at the Wittenberg Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Tuesday, May 2, 1905, Page 1, Column 5
