Died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Selma Renstrom, at Shenandoah, Iowa, on March 8, 1905, Mr. John Ericsson.

About two weeks before his death Mr. Ericsson had a very severe fall and from the effects of this fall he did not recover. He was born in Sweden, June 5, 1828. In the year 1858 he with his family came to Newton, where they resided till the year 1883, when they removed to Shenandoah, Iowa, where he and his two daughters have since resided. The year before the family left his city for their new home, Dr. C. F. Ericsson, of Des Moines, died and was brought to Newton for burial, and so when the mother about six years ago was taken, it was by her request that she be brought to Newton and laid beside her son.

Mr. Ericsson was an honorable man in the strictest sense, and one who prided himself on meeting every obligation promptly. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Shenandoah where the funeral was held. The next day the two sons, Gus and Erick Ericsson, of Red Oak, Iowa, and the daughters, Mrs. Selma Renstrom and Miss Jennie Ericsson, left for this city with the remains. Here on March 10, 1905, he was laid beside his wife and son in our cemetery.

The committal service was read by Rev. M. L. Tate of the Lutheran Church and six of his old friends, Messr. Robt. Burns, T. K. Clarkson, N. K. Malenberg, Charles Jasper, E. B. Ramsey and Fred Eaton, were pallbearers.
