September 25, 1926 ~ October 30, 2016 (age 90)

Twylia Faye Norris, 90, of Newton died on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Park Centre. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorials to the First Baptist Church, Grace Church, or to the Salem or Princeton Cemetery Associations may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Twylia, the daughter of Whit and Alta (Moss) Moss, was born on September 25, 1926 in Princeton, Missouri. She grew up in Missouri and graduated from Princeton High School. After high school Twylia received her teaching certificate and taught country school for one year.

Twylia was united in marriage with Ralph L. Norris on May 4, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. They made their home in Newton. In 1963, Ralph and Twylia built a home at Rock Creek Lake that they both loved and where Twylia loved to entertain both family and friends. Twylia worked at Newton Manufacturing, the Vernon Company, and the telephone company before working as a teller at Newton National Bank for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and an active member of the First Baptist Church since 1956. Twylia was also a great baker and was known for her pies and cinnamon rolls.

Those left to honor Twylia’s memory are her children, Ellen (Darrell) DeVault of Newton, Les (Carol) Norris of Newton, and Kathy (Doug) Fifer of Newton; grandchildren, Amy DeVault, Sarah (Dale) Meyer, Wendy DeVault, Joy (Mike) McCole, Sheri (Dan) Hart, Lisa (Chris) Van Gorp, Michael (Marsha) Norris, Matthew (Tanya) Fifer, and Becky (Mike) Iske; her great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Zach) Ulrich, Andrew and Matthew Straub, Sean and Macey Meyer, Emily, Kevin, and Isabel McCole, Gregory Vasseau and Genesee Merical, Max, Wyatt, Rory, and Ben Van Gorp, Christian and Stephanie Norris, Sheridan, Joshua, Caleb, and Katie Joy Fifer, and Maddie and Emma Iske; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph.
