Marguerite Elizabeth (Pierce) Roush, died on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Accura East of Newton. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 3, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Marguerite was born to Charles W. and Pearl A. (Kendig) Pierce on September 25, 1917 near Colfax, Iowa. She was one of five children, one sister and three brothers. Her mother died when she was seven and Marguerite was raised by her father and brothers.

On June 12, 1934, she was united in marriage to Ray W. Roush. They were blessed with ten children. Ray and Marge farmed most of their lives in Colfax, Tracy, Chariton, and finally made their home North of Newton.

Marge loved telling stories about her youth. Especially about riding her horse to school, dancing the Charleston, and going to square dances. She could play any instrument by ear; including the piano, organ, guitar and harmonica. She loved her home, her dog, and her car. But most of all she loved her kids and grandkids. Marge always met you with a smile. A good day to her was spent with family. She loved having everyone to her house for Christmas and no one went home without a gift. Marge worked hard all her life cooking, cleaning, gardening canning, and taking care of her children. She was a wonderful cook, but in later years loved NOT cooking.

Marge is survived by nine children, Marilyn Knox of Knoxville, Bobby (Carolyn) Roush of Newton, Don Roush of Lacona, Judy (Roger) Krutsinger of Chariton, Jerry Roush of Kellogg, Howard Roush of Newton, Katie Slycord of Knoxville, Earnie Roush of Chariton, and Linda Osborn (Brad Mitchell) of Newton; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Pierce and Mary Roush.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; a daughter in infancy; three brothers; one sister; one grandson; and one son-in-law. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 29 Oct 2016.
