Graveside services with military rites will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home, 2 W. 5th St. in Green City, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bairdstown Cemetery in Missouri.

Arnold L. Squire, 83 years old, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, Missouri.

Arnold was born on June 7, 1933 in the Bairdstown community near Milan, Missouri to Abraham Louis and Lina Hilda (Pullman) Squire. On May 23, 1953, he married Betty Joan Doolin, and to this marriage four children were born.

Betty preceded him in death on March 13, 1998. He then married Dee (Hill) Squire on December 30, 2000. She survives him of the home.

Also surviving are his four children: Joe Arnold Squire and wife Stefanie of Newton, Rick Lee Squire and wife Connie of Baxter, Louann Marie (Squire) Strickland and husband Michael of Flower Mound, Texas, and Rodney Wayne Squire and wife Ann of Overland Park, Kansas; one step son, Jeffrey Scott and wife Gena of Williamstown, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Matthew Meyer, Brandon Meyer and wife Lindsay, Nathan Lee Squire, Nicholas Squire and wife Shaina, Reid Squire, Megan Squire, Nikki Strickland, Blake Squire, Ethan Squire, and Hannah Squire; several step grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Alexandra May Squire and Natalie Rose Squire; one step great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Arnold was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Squire and Frederick Squire (in infancy); four sisters: Nellie Shaver, Dorothy Jaques, Mildred Broyles, and Marie Roberts.

Arnold grew up in the Bairdstown community, graduating from Milan High School in 1951. He was a member of the Bairdstown United Methodist Church. After high school, Arnold served in the United States Army in Germany when the Korean War ended. He then moved to Newton, working at Parsons Corporation building cranes and heavy equipment for 21 years. Arnold later became a journeyman electrician, working on numerous projects until retirement in 2000. Arnold loved farming, horses, cattle, and especially John Deere tractors. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing, and played a lot of Pitch.

Arnold lived a life of service. He selflessly served his family, his community, and his country. He was a Scout Master for many years and Athletic Booster Club President for several years. He helped anyone who needed help, and raised his children to follow in his footsteps serving others. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 22 Oct 2016.
