Newton Woman Dies Monday
Mrs. Will Riley Succumbs to Short Illness; Funeral Announcements Not Made
Mrs. Will Riley died late last evening at her home south of this city, after an illness of two days suffering from kidney trouble. Her death comes as a great shock to her family and friends, who had not known that she was seriously ill.
Mrs. Riley had been in her usual health until Sunday, when she became ill. Death occurred shortly after midnight last night. No funeral arrangements have been announced as yet, pending word from out of town relatives.
Born in Lynnville in 1881, Mrs. Riley moved to Newton with her parents when a young girl, and was married here on February 21, 1900 to Will Riley. Since their marriage they have made their home on a farm near Newton. Mrs. Riley was a member of the Palo Alto United Presbyterian church until the time of its dissolution at which time she became a member of the local United Presbyterian church. She was an interested worker in the church and a member of the Fortnightly circle, and let her time and support to things tending toward the good of the community.
Surviving her are her husband and six children, Mrs. Katherine Roberts, Mrs. Mabel Roberts, Kenneth, Robert, Bernard and John Riley, her mother, Mrs. Jennie Rayl, five sisters, Mrs. Ora Carey of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Josie Lawson of Chicago; Mrs. Stella Doud, Mrs. Myrtle Dank and Mrs. Hans Thompson of this city; one brother, Edward Rayl, and two grand children, Riley Roberts and Raymond Roberts.
