Services Held June 3 for Joseph Maher

Joseph "Melvin" Maher 83, of 3825 E. 8th St., Des Moines, died of lung cancer Sunday at Luther Park Care Center. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery.

Mr. Maher was born in Colfax and lived in Des Moines 45 years, retiring as a machinist for Deere & Co. Des Moines Works at Ankeny.

He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and the International Association of Machinists.

Among survivors are his wife, Anna; a son, Ray of Ankeny; and a sister, Loretta Proudfit of Des Moines, 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thur 4 June 1992.
