Funeral services for Leona K. Kleinendorst Klouda, 74, of 606 E. 14th St. S., a resident of Newton most of her life, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. today. Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Jasper County Historical Society may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Klouda died early Wednesday morning of a respiratory disease at the home of her daugher and son-in-law in Indianola.

Survivors are her husband, Ben; a daughter, Karen (Mrs. Charles De Vore of Indianola; and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Lester "Bud" Kleinendorst and Bernard "Bob" Kleinendorst, both of Newton, and seven sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Mick) Weldon, Josephine (Mrs. Albert) Sparks, Wilma (Mrs. De Vern) Creed and Bernice (Mrs. Frank) York, all of Newton, Vera (Mrs. Max) Calhoon of Naperville, Ill., LaVonne (Mrs. Gene) Talbott of Olathe, Kan., and Beverly (Mrs. Marion) Osborn of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Klouda, who was employed in the accounting department of the United Telephone Co. until her retirement in 1981, was a life member of the Jasper County Historical Society and a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge.

The daughter of Neal and Elizabeth Van Hemert Kleinendorst, she was born Feb. 17, 1917 at Otley.

As a young girl, she moved to Newton with her family.

She was married to Benjamin Klouda June 1, 1941 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 27 Dec 1991.
