SHENANDOAH - Howard H. Hoffman, 80, of Shenandoah, a former resident of Newton, died Thursday, Dec. 26, in an Omaha, Neb., hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Shenandoah First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Bob Davis, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Redding, Iowa, Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Hackett Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Survivors are his wife, Elnora; two sons, Larry and Julie of West Lafayette, Ind., and David and Charlotte of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Cecile (Mrs. Larry) Cozad of LaCrescent, Minn., Mariann (Mrs. Ken) Harlen of Lexington, Ky., and Carolyn (Mrs. Bob) Towers of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Rowena Bogataj of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

The son of John and Clyda Waugh Hoffman, he was born June 25, 1911 at Redding and was a 1930 graduate of Redding High School.

He was married to Elnora Bush Feb. 15, 1937 in Churdan.

The couple resided in Grinnell and Grand Island, Neb., and farmed in Ringgold and Taylor Counties before moving to Page County in 1959, where they farmed until 1967.

They moved to Newton in 1967 where Mr. Hoffman was a custodian in the Newton school system until they moved to Shenandoah in 1976. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 27 Dec 1991.
