Services Held June 19 for Jean Cairns

Jean Frances Liddell Cairns, 94, a former resident of Colfax, died Saturday evening, June 15, at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.

The Rev. Edward Susic, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Colfax Cemetery.

Survivors are a son, John H. Jr. of Council Bluffs; and a sister, Hazel Luengen of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mrs. Cairns was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John H., five sisters and two brothers.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Adel and the PEO.

The daughter of Arnold and Julie Hanlon Liddell, she was born Nov. 3, 1896 in St. Joseph, Mo.

A 1915 graduate of Colfax Community High School, she was a cashier at the Citizens State Bank in Colfax.

She was married to John H. Cairns June 15, 1926, in Colfax.

They resided in Colfax until 1940 when they moved to Tooele, Utah, then to a farm near Maxwell and later to Des Moines. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 20 June 1991.
