Delwin Cross Services Held June 5

Funeral services for Delwin David "Del" Cross, 72, were held Friday, June 5, at the Newton First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. John Moorlach, pastor of the Killduff United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Raymond Moore of Knoxville, a retired minister, conducted services. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.

Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Mr. Cross died Monday evening, June 1, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A member of the Richland Grange, he was State grange Master from 1971 to 1981 and a member of the National Grange executive committee from 1977 to 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marlys of Louisville, Ky., Don and Janice of Newton and Marty and Debbie of Newton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Imy and Charlie Bruce of Newton and Mickey and wade Van Baale of Newton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Bud) Hutt of Martensdale, Betty Miller of Des Moines, and Ethel Cross of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne.

The son of David "Harry" and Alpha Klein Cross, he was born July 17, 1919 in rural Colfax. He was a 1936 graduate of Colfax Community High School.

He was married to Lucille I. Emmack June 12, 1940 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 11 June 1992.
