James Woodyard, 75, Mingo Resident; Dies Thursday
James W. Woodyard, 75, of Mingo died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mingo Methodist Church.
The Rev. Don Glazier, minister of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Garden in Des Moines.
Mr. Woodyard will lie in state at the Toland Funeral Home in Newton where friends may call after 2 p.m. today.
Survivors are his wife, Lacy Juanita; three sons, James E. of Palm Beach, Fla.; and Jeffrey R. and Phillip W., both of Mingo; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also surviving are a brother, Wesley M. Woodyard of Midwest City, Okla., and five sisters, Mrs. Lola Dildine of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Grace Schermerhorn, Mrs. Mildred Beattie and Mrs. Francis Vance, all of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Ruby Aichlmayr of Santa Clara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Woodyard was a member of the Church of God.
The son of George and Priscilla Kinder Woodyard, he was born Feb. 7, 1891 at Laknen, Mo.
Mr. Woodyard, resident of Des Moines until moving to Mingo 11 years ago, was a retired employee of the Firestone Co.
He was married to Lacy Juanita Woodyard Oct. 5, 1935 at Platte City, Mo.
