MINGO - Ralph W. Crozier, 84, of Mingo, a resident of the Mingo Community since 1943 and mayor of Mingo for six years, died Monday, July 23, at the Embassy Manor Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Kevin Leveck, pastor of the Mingo United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery in Ira.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today, July 24, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Union Chapel Cemetery Association of rural Mingo or the Mingo United Methodist Church will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Veda; a son, Donald of rural Mingo; a daughter, Ardena Gibson of rural Altoona; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glen, and a son, Richard, in 1948.

Mr. Crozier, a longtime member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Newton and a seventh degree Grange member, was a member of the Tucson Grange No. 6 of Tucson, Ariz., The Elks Lodge of Newton, DOKK of Tucson, Ariz., Tucson Barracks 2713 of World War I Veterans and the Mingo United Methodist Church.

He was a retired farmer.

The son of William H. and Lillie Zaring Crozier, he was born Jan. 25, 1900 in Mahaska County, atteneded the 4C's Business School in Des Moines, Michigan State Auto School in Detroit, Mich., and Kemper Military School in Missouri.

He was married to Veda Moore Aug. 15, 1922 in Oskaloosa. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 24 July 1984.
