PELLA - Mrs. Maurice (Helen Elaine) Groenendyk, 44, of Pella, a native of Newton, died Monday morning, July 23, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at the Pella First Christian reformed Church.

The Rev. John R. Sittema, pastor of the church, will conduct services. burial will be in Sandridge Cemetery near Tracy.

Memorials will be accepted and may be left at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mr. Dean (Mill Elaine) Borgman of Pella and Julie Ellen at home; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Struik of near Newton.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lowell (Lois) Vande Lune and Mrs. Loren (Linda) Vande Lune, both of Pella, Mrs. Benjamin (Carol) Van Zee of Newton and Mrs. David (Phyllis) Vander Pol of Sully; and a brother, Marvin J. Struik of Mesa, Ariz.

Mrs. Groenendyk was a former member of the Tracy Christian reformed Church and was the church organist for 12 years.

She was a member of the Pella First Christian Reformed Church, the Mr. and Mrs. Society and was active in the bible Study Coffee Break.

The daughter of Hubert and Hendrika Van Norden Struik, she was born April 23, 1940 in Newton, attended Newton area rural schools and was a 1958 graduate of Newton Community High School.

After their marriage May 1, 1959, the Groenendyks farmed near Tracy until 1973 when they moved to Pella.

Mrs. Groenendyk was an employee of the Fair Haven in Pella for three years, until March, 1984. ~ The Newton Daily News Newton, Iowa Tues 24 July 1984.
