Lloyd Schnathorst Rites Are Held This Afternoon
Funeral services for Lloyd A. Schnathorst, 61, of Rt. 1, Newton, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, were held this afternoon at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Ian Hoover, pastor of the Community Heights Alliance Church, conducted services. Burial was in St. Johns Cemetery, north of Newton.
Memorial contributions to the Community Heights Alliance Church Memorial Fund will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Wilma; three sons, Gerald of Carlisle and Dennis and David, both of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janice) Mitchell, Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) Pickett and Mrs. Dennis (Carol) Petty, all of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, three brothers, Wilbert, Ed and an infant; and two sisters, Marie Eilert and Clara Wirth.
Mr. Schnathorst was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau and the UAW, Local 997.
A farmer and longtime employee of the Parsons Co., he was employed by Thomberts at the time of his death.
The son of August and Minnie Ebert Schnathorst, he was born Mar. 23, 1916 in Mariposa Township.
He was married to Wilma Buckles June 4, 1938 at Princeton, Mo.
He died Friday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
