Mrs. Shopshire Died This Morning
Mrs. Retta Shropshire died this morning at 9:30 o’clock at Manson, Iowa, after an illness of two weeks from pneumonia. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. James Rhinehart, of this place, was with her at the time of her death. The remains are to be brought to Monroe for interment by the side of her former husband, the late Jesse Long. It is probable that the funeral party will arrive in Monroe this evening and the body will rest at the home of the brother, Jehu Rinehart, until after the funeral services for which definite arrangements have not been made.
Mrs. Shroopshire’s maiden name was Retta Rinehart. She was the wife of the late Jesse Long, of Monroe, and after his death was married to A. C. Shropshire, who is also deceased. She was about seventy-two years old. She is survived by no relatives nearer than brothers and a sister, of whom are the following: James Rinehart of this place; Jesse Rinehart of South Dakota; S. Rinehart of North Dakota; Jehu of Monroe; and Mrs. John Ryan of Prairie City.
Mrs. Shropshire has spent most of her life in this vicinity and is well known here. She has been at Manson only since last spring.
