The Methodist Episcopal church of Monroe was crowded with friends last Saturday afternoon, to pay their respects to the late Arthur P. Wright, well known Jasper county farmer, who dropped dead Wednesday evening of last week, as he was doing the evening chores.
The services were conducted by Rev. R. C. Buchanan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, at 2:30 who in a few well chosen words told of the life of Mr. Wright, in which he showed the active life that Mr. Wright lead; how he was active in the Farm Bureau work and was always ready to help in the affairs of the community.
“It is impossible to say here, all that can be said of Mr. Wright,” stated the speaker. “But the many remarks dropped by the wayside by those knowing him, show what a stalwart, upright character he had.
“I have heard several business men say that it was a pleasure to do business with him. He often said he wanted to so live his life so as to be an example to others.”
“Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” was sung by Mrs. Thelma Lewis; “My Task” by Mrs. Lewis and Hubert Burchinal and “Going Down the Valley” by Hubert Burchinal accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Ralph Gloyd.

He took an active part in Farm Bureau and all community affairs and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

To Mrs. Wright from Nelle Jensma:
“Though God has called my loved on To his home on high, We will keep his memories until we die There will be many lonely hours For you alone Which will be comforted by God’s throne. This earth is a place of trouble, grief and worry Of which we all can not leave in a hurry How much better to have him taken without lingering, suffering and pain How happy the thought must make you To know that he was good and true Prepared to meet his Maker Above the skies of blue. Grieve not Dear Friend For God will not forsake you In this hour of turmoil He is quietly resting, waiting for his earthly pal to join him In the Great Beyond.”
