Services Held
Carl Worthington, 51, of Reasnor, died of a heart attack Sunday, December 22, 1996 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 26 at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Judy Wadding, pastor of the Reasnor United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Hewitt Cemetery.
Memorials to the Newton Health Care Center will be accepted.
Born July 23, 1945, at Collins Hospital in Knoxville, he was the son of Roy and Opal Sparks Worthington. He attended grade school in Attica and Twin Cedars High School.
He married Kathy Marie Oswald November 26, 1993 in Galesburg.
Mr. Worthington lived in the Knoxville and Attica areas prior to moving to Reasnor 10 years ago. He was a nurse’s aid at Newton Health Care Center.
He is survived by his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Mike and Dawn of Knoxville; a stepdaughter, Jackie Marie Oswald of Reasnor; and two grandchildren of Knoxville. Also surviving are four brothers, Ted, Cliff, Ed and Ernie, all of Des Moines; and a sister, Verna Umble of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alice Miedema and two brothers, Roy Jr. and James.
