Services Held
Services for Dora Mae Woody, Kellogg, were held Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. Rev. Mike Johnson, pastor of the Kellogg Christian Church, officiated the services. Burial will be at a later date.
Dora passed away Friday evening, May 7, 1999, at Skiff Medical Center of heart failure.
The daughter of Claude and Ethel McAtee Johnson, Dora was born February 16, 1920 in Newton. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High School class of 1938. Dora was a lifelong resident of Jasper County including Newton, Killduff, and Kellogg. She married Rex P. Woody February 11, 1940 in Newton.
Dora Woody was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kellogg and had been a homemaker.
Survivors are two sons, Timothy Woody of Grinnell, and Joel Woody of Newton; five daughters: Marilyn and Laird Deppe of Kellogg, Pat and Dennis Farland of Newton, Ruth and Mike Sullivan of Newton, Jane and Mike Patterson of Kellogg, Sally and Van Hotchkin of Kellogg. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Cedric Johnson of California, Johnny Johnson of Oregon, Richard Johnson of Red Oak, and Billy Johnson. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rex on October 10, 1991, a son Tommy Woody, and son-in-law Craig Harding.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or the Susan Koman Foundation will be accepted.
