Life Story of Claude Wolfe
Claude A. Wolfe, 49, of Marshalltown a former Monroe resident, died Thursday morning at his home following a heart attack.
Services were held Saturday in Estel-Perrin Funeral Home in Marshalltown.
The Rev. Robert MacCanon, minister of Grace United Methodist Church, Marshalltown, conducted the services. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.
Surviving are his widow, Esther Mae; a son, James, a student at the State University of Iowa; a brother, Edward of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Mrs. Ivan (Mary) Kerns of Monroe.
The son of Edward and Letha Barr Wolfe, he was born May 4, 1919 in Monroe and was educated in Monroe schools.
He was married to Esther Mae Drury February 21, 1943 in Niland, Calif.
Mr. Wolfe resided in Monroe until he enlisted in the Marines December 2, 1940. He was taken a prisoner of war by the Japanese on Wake Island. He received his discharge September 6, 1945 at Corpus Christi, Texas.
He moved to Marshalltown in 1948.
