Services Today
Graveside services for Frank M. Wing of Newton will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Newton Union Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery in the Veterans II Section.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Animal Rescue League and Humane Society.
Frank Wing was born December 2, 1916 in Colfax, the son of Frank L. and Jessie (Morris) Wing. He worked in skilled trades for 30 years at the Maytag Company, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the VFW Post 1655, American Legion Post 111, and the Newton Moose Lodge. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He had lived in Colfax, Des Moines, Ottumwa, and Grinnell, prior to moving to Newton after World War Ii.
Survivors are two sons, Doug (and Loire) Wing of Newton, and Ted (and Glenda) Wing of Monroe, two daughters, Lea (and Fred) Chabot of Newton and Andrea (and John) Birkenholtz of Newton. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Kate Williams of Lenox. Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dan Wing.
