The funeral service for Clyde Wilson, 79, of Monroe was at 2 p.m. Oct. 28, in United Methodist Church, Monroe, with the Rev. Gerald McGee officiating. He died Oct. 24 in his home.
Burial was in Silent City Cemetery, Monroe. Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Monroe, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 29, 1905 in Jasper County, to George and Marcella Woody Wilson. He grew up and was educated in Jasper County. On June 2, 1934, he married Evelyn Edwards in Newton. He farmed and worked at Maytag for several years and later worked as a mechanic at Hawkins Implement in Monroe for 24 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He and his wife were members of the Forever Young Club.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Mrs. Jon E. (Phyllis) Bartlow of Oskaloosa and Mrs. Ronald L. (Margie) Datson of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Marion (Ethel) Spain and Mrs. Russell (Esther) Morris, both of Newton; three grandchildren; three foster grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Olive Jones, and three brothers, Everett, Harold and Harley.

Services Held
Funeral services for Clyde Wilson, 79, of Monroe were held Monday, October 28, 1985, at the Monroe Methodist Church. Rev. Gerald McGee conducted services with burial in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mr. Wilson died Thursday at his home.
Clyde Wilson, son of George and Marcella Woody Wilson, was born Nov. 29, 1905 in Jasper County. On June 2, 1934, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Edwards in Newton. To this union two children were born.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Evelyn, two daughters: Phyllis (Mrs. John E.) Bartlow of Oskaloosa, Margie (Mrs. Ronald L.) Datson of Garland, Texas; two sisters: Ethel (Mrs. Marion) Spain, Esther (Mrs. Russell) Morris both of Newton; three grandchildren, three foster grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Olive Jones; three brothers, Everett, Harold and Harley.

Monroe, IA – Services for Clyde Wilson, 79, of Monroe, who died of a heart attack Thursday at home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Monroe. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson lived in the Monroe area all his life. He was a retired mechanic for Hawkins Implement and a member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, two daughters, Phyllis Bartlow of Oskaloosa and Margie Datson of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Ethel Spain and Esther Morris, both of Newton, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call any time today at Garden Chapel Funeral home in Monroe.
