Life Story of J. Grant Williams
J. Grant Williams, 80, of 812 North 6th Ave. East, Newton, a resident of Jasper county since 1928, died Monday at Skiff Memorial hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Toland Funeral home. The Rev. Orin Young of Monroe and the Rev. Dale Williams of Denison, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife; two sons, Max Williams of Prairie City, J. G. (Dean) Williams of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. Adam (Letha) Brunner of Newton, Mrs. Don (Virginia) Warden of Newton and Mrs. Dwight (Mildred) Davis of Charlotte, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Iler of Plover and Mrs. Mary Anderson of Rockwell City; and three brothers, Otis Williams of Puyallup, Wash., Emmet Williams of Rockwell City and E. O. Williams of Newton.
The son of Lyman and Anna Norris Williams, he was born September 7, 1879, at Mason City.
He was married June 24, 1903 at Des Moines to Besse Moore.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Monroe Methodist church.
