Services Thursday
Joe Williams, age 76 of Prairie City, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at his home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation for Joe will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Prairie City Lions Club or Prairie City Historical Society and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Earl & Ethel (Main) Williams, Joe was born on August 6, 1930, in Prairie City. Joe graduated from Prairie City High School in 1948. On March 16, 1951 he was united in marriage to Shirley Archer in Prairie City. Joe was a Prairie City Lions Club member for 55 years, where he served as District Governor in 1980 and 1981, board member of the Prairie City Historical Society, member for 36 years of the Prairie City fire department, and a Prairie City Business owner of Williams Service, plumbing, heating, and electrical from 1965 through 1989. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, and collecting carnival glass.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 56 years, Shirley of Prairie City, his three sons, Steven Williams of Prairie City, Don Williams and his wife Kirsten of Millersburg, Missouri and Lynn Williams of Eden Valley, Minnesota, and two grandchildren, Daniel and Jodie Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Andy Williams, two brothers, Hugh and Donald Williams and two sisters, Louise Ingle and Betty Williams.
