Dies At Local Nursing Home Following Stroke; Services Pending
William Whitted, 81, life-long resident of Jasper county, died at a local nursing home Saturday morning after suffering a stroke Thursday morning. Mr. Whitted had been in ill health for sometime being admitted to the nursing home two years ago.
Mr. Whitted was born in 1863 near Monroe. He lived in Jasper county all of his life except for a time that he spent in Los Angeles, Calif., with his son, James C. Whitted.
He married Anna Scott in 1887, who preceded him in death in 1926.
Other surviving relatives include two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Charles Sims and Myrtle Scott of Newton; three brothers-in-law, W. M. Scott of Newton, Dr. James H. Scott, of Galveston, Mo., and C. M. Scott of Storey, Wyo., and a number of cousins near Monroe.
Funeral services are pending arrival of his son, J. C. Whitted, of California. The body has been taken to Monroe.

Whitted Services Wednesday in Monroe

Monroe – Funeral services for William Whitted, 81, who died in a Newton nursing home Saturday morning, will be held Wednesday at 3 o’clock in the Crumpacker Funeral home in Monroe with the Rev. George Pennington, pastor of the Monroe Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in the Monroe cemetery. There will be a Masonic service.
