Former County Residents Die in California
Colfax, Feb. 11 - Special to The Daily News - Word has been received here of the deaths of Mrs. S. B. Wheelock and Henry Hise, former Jasper county residents who have made their homes in California for some time.
Mrs. Wheelock died at the home of Mrs. Blanche Walcott in Monterey Park, Calif., at 84 years of age. She had been an invalid for many years, suffering from arthritis of the spine. The Wheelocks lived in Colfax for a number of years while her son was cashier of the Citizens State bank.
Henry Hise, who until a few years ago operated a farm near Monroe, died Feb. 3 at his home in San Bernadino, Calif. He was 70 years of age and is survived by his widow, three sons and one daughter. The latter and one son live in California, another son, Fred, lives in Detroit, Mich., and the other son, Roy, lives in Colorado.
Two of Mr. Hice’s sisters, Mrs. Sadie Krohn and Mrs. Henry Musser, and one brother, Till Hice, live in Colfax. Two sisters and a brother live in Des Moines.
