Life Story of Mark Walker
Funeral services were held for Mark Boyden Walker Monday, February 25, 1980, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.
Rev. Jerry Wolcott officiated with interment in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mark Boyden Walker, son of John E. and Mary Ellen Herwehe Walker, was born in Monroe, on May 2, 1912 and died at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines on February 22, 1980.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Poortinga on October 26, 1935, at Newton, Iowa. He has been a lifelong Monroe resident. Mr. Walker had farmed and worked for the Maytag Co. retiring from there in 1966.
Surviving are his wife Evelyn; a son, Delmar Walker of Norwalk, Iowa; a daughter Mrs. Roger (Janet) Bandstra of Tracy, Iowa; 2 brothers, Forrest Walker of Monroe and Norman Walker of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Vetta) Cathey of Newton and a8 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 1 brother, 1 sister and 1 grandchild.
