Services Held
Services for Evelyn Kathryn Walker were held Monday at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Evelyn passed away July 26, 1991, at the age of 77 at St. Lukes Hospital at Davenport, Iowa.
Elder Arthur Nichols officiated the services. Interment was in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Born January 10, 1914, at Fairmount, the daughter of George and Katie Meyers Poortinga, she was educated at the Capital Prairie Country School later graduating from the Monroe High School in 1931. She was united in marriage to Mark Boyden Walker on October 26, 1935, at Newton. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and had worked at Rolscreen in Pella for a time. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Bandstra of Kansas City; a son, Delmar Mark Walker of Norwalk; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Mark, 2 brothers: Frank and John, 2 sisters: Jennie Nearmyer and Edith Nearmyer and 2 grandchildren: Kurt Walker and Melissa Bandstra.
