Services Held
Services for Forrest “Jack” Walker of Monroe were held Saturday, March 30, 1001, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Koughn officiated the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Forrest passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Born March 1, 1916, in Monroe, Forrest was the son of John Ervin and Mary Ellen Herwehe Walker. He married Wanda Pearl Waddle May 25, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Forrest had been a farmer, truck driver, mechanic, and was a retired Jasper County employee. He enjoyed family activities and collecting and restoring antique farm machinery.
Memorials to the Monroe United Methodist Church or Hospice of Central Iowa have been suggested by the family.
Survivors are his wife, Wanda; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jean Walker of Prairie City, Larry and Janet Walker of Center City, Minnesota, and Roger and Roberta Walker of Ellendale, Minnesota; one daughter, Janice Cook of Monroe; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Vetta Cathey of Grinnell, and brother and his wife, Norman and Barbara Walker of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen; 2 brothers, Ervin and Mark; son-in-law, Dean Cook; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Reese Walker.
