Services Held
Kenneth D. Vos, 62, of Prairie City, died Monday, May 12, 1997, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were Thursday at the Otley Reformed Church in Otley with the Rev. David M. Hensley officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Memorials to the Rev. Alan J. Schreuder for the Reformed Church Missionary in Chiapas, Mexico will be accepted.
The son of James and Wilma (Jansen) Vos, he was born August 14, 1934, in Jasper County. He attended Center Country Grade School near Sully.
He married Jean Darlene Van Kooten January 10, 1957, in Sully. He later married Lorena Mae Roorda Gosselink June 30, 1981 in Pella.
A lifelong resident of Jasper county he worked as a farmer near Monroe since 1959. He was a member of the Otley Reformed Church where he served as an elder.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dale E. and Darwin J. of Pella and Douglas K. of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law Debra S. and Lynn B. Elrod of Newton; five stepdaughters, Diane K. Baier of Pella, Kathy L. DeZwarte of Pella, Linda J. Gosselink of Mesa, Arizona, and Carol M. and Julie L. Gosselink, both of West Des Moines.
Other survivors include 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Vos of Garner, N.C., Harris L. Vos of Newton, and Jerry Vos of Monroe; three sisters, Lois (Mrs. Wilmer Stallinga) of Pella, Linda Vos of Pella and Louise (Mrs. Edward Conover) of Trout Run, Pennsylvania; and his mother.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and his father.
