Services to be Held
Services for Henry J. Verwers, 94, will be today, Thursday, October 28, 1999, at the Prairie City First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor, will officiate the services. Burial was in Waveland cemetery in Prairie City. He passed away Monday, October 25, 1999 at the Pella Regional Hospital.
The son of Jacob and Dena Rozenberg Verwers, Henry was born November 18, 1904, at Peoria, Iowa. He worked with his family farming in the Kellogg area until moving to Prairie City in 1940. He moved to Pella in 1989. He married Dorothy Naaktgeborn December 19, 1928 and following her death married Carrie Hulleman March 1, 1973.
Henry belonged to the First Reformed Church of Prairie City and served 15 years on the Jasper County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. He worked in the Newton office for 9 years as well as being a farmer.
Memorials to the First Reformed Church or Hospice of Pella are suggested.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law: Clifford and Joy of Ft. Worth, Texas; Lawrence and Eleanor of Altoona; and Loren and Margie of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, 8 brothers and sisters.
