Services Held
Services of Henry Ver Woert were held Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Rev. Josue L. Florendo and Rev. Daryl Pals officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Henry Ver Woert, 83, passed away at Skiff Medical Center in Newton on Monday, April 2, 2001.
Henry was born in Sully, Iowa on July 29, 1917, the son of Jacob and Hattie (Miedema) Ver Woert.
He was united in marriage to Olive Fern Hevlin on March 4, 1939, in Pella, Iowa. He lived in Monroe for 23 years and farmed in the Otley area for many years. He moved to Newton in 1993.
A memorial to the Monroe Emergency Unit has been designated by the family.
Henry is survived by his wife at a nursing home; a son, Henry Glen Ver Woert of Knoxville; a daughter, Martha Stewart of Newton; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two brothers, Rex Ver Woert of Phoenix, AZ and Rox Ver Woert of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and 3 sisters. Henry was a farmer and also worked at Pella Corp.
