Services Held
Services for Bernard D. “Barney” Simbro were held Monday, December 27, 1999, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Cremation followed the funeral services.
Bernard D. Simbro, the son of Earl R. and Bessie (Wagner) Simbro was born in Marion County, Red Rock Township, Iowa, July 15, 1935. He attended area schools and on October 5, 1962, was united in marriage to Mary Slykhuis at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. For the past thirty years they have made their home in Reasnor. Barney was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation in the highway department for 35 years prior to his retirement.
Surviving is his wife Mary, a son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Michelle Simbro, Newton, two daughters an a son-in-law, Teresa and husband Robert Hughes and Marcelene Simbro, all of Reasnor, a brother Clifford and wife Pat of Newton and a sister Coral Lee and husband Eldon Marshall of Monroe, as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial for the Reasnor Park Fund has been suggested by his family.
