Rites held for Maytag retiree
Henrietta G. Sille of Monroe, a Maytag retiree, died Monday at Skiff Medical Center of a heart condition. She was 77. Graveside rites were held today at the Monroe Silent City Cemetery. A son, Dean is a Maytag retiree.
First working for the company in machining in 1943, her continuous employment began in April 1945 in machining. She had remained in that department until retiring in October 1971.
In addition to her son, survivors include three daughters: Betty Grandstaff, Grinnell; L. Darlene Marshall, Monroe, and Miriam Woods, Cedar Rapids.

Monroe, Ia. – A graveside service for Henrietta Sille, 77, of Monroe, who died of a heart attack Monday at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, will be at 10 a.m. today at Silent City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sille was born near Peoria. She retired from the Maytag Co., in Newton and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local No. 997.
Survivors include a son, Dean Sill of Monroe, three daughters, Betty Grandstaff of Grinnell, Miriam Woods of Cedar Rapids and Lillian Marshall of Monroe; a brother, Rene Gertsma of Newton; four sisters, Sophia McConeghey of Oakland, Veva Perry of Prairie City, Mabel Kleinendorst of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Lillian Longren of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.

Graveside services were held for Henrietta Sille of Monroe on Thursday, August 7, 1986 at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Rev. Roger Graf officiated.
Henrietta Sille of Monroe passed away August 4 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
She was born on June 8, 1909, near Peoria, the daughter of Andrew Hans and Cornelia Kooyman Gertsma. On Feb. 22, 1926, she was united in marriage to William Roy Sille in Jasper County. To this union four children were born.
She is survived by a son, Dean I. Sill of Monroe; three daughters, Betty Marie Grandstaff of Grinnell, Mariam Annette Woods of Cedar Rapids, Lillian Darlene Marshall of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Rene Gertsma of Newton; four sisters, Sophia McConeghey of Oakland, Veva Perry of Prairie City, Mabel Kleinendorst of Grand Rapids, Minn. and Lillian Longren of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Simon and Garret Gertsma, and several half brothers and half sisters.

Graveside rites will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
The Rev. Roger Graff, pastor of the Monroe United Methodist Church, will conduct services.
Visitation will be held today at the Garden Chapel Funeral home in Monroe.

Mrs. Sille was a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 997, in Newton.
She was an employee of the Maytag Co. in Newton for 28 years, retiring in 1971.
The daughter of Andrew Hans and Cornelia Kooyman Gertsma, she was born June 8, 1909 near Peoria.
She was educated in Washington and Lincoln Elementary Schools in Newton and was graduated from the Warren Grove School in rural Jasper County.
She was married to William Roy Sille Feb. 22, 1926 in Jasper County.
