Life Story of Grace Shutts
Mrs. Bert (Grace) Shutts, 94, of Grinnell died Wednesday, October 25 at Friendship Manor in Grinnell.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Newton.
Father Joseph Denning conducted the services. Burial was in the St. Andrew’s Lutheran Cemetery at Galesburg.
Survivors are a son, Kenneth Shutts of Newton; two daughters Mrs. Loren (Cecelia) Eldredge of Stuart and Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Munson of Monroe; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bertin, in 1951; two sons, Francis in October 1972, and Carroll in November 1972; and two brothers, Earl and Jerome Coakley.
The daughter of Thomas and Catherine Sheehy Coakley, she was born Oct. 27, 1883, near Galesburg and was graduated from Saint Ambrose High School.
She was married Oct. 26, 1908.
