Services for Eva Mae Shewmaker, 100, of Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines were held April 25, 2000, at Dunn’s Funeral Home with burial at Glendale Cemetery. She passed away of a heart ailment April 21.
Eva was born in Monroe. Her parents were Oakley and Lorinda Sheeler Jarnagin. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1918. She lived in Des Moines most of her life and had lived at Elsie Mason Manor prior to her stay at the care center. She was a retired secretary and receptionist with Dial Finance and also had worked for Veterans Medical Center and Wesley Acres.
Surviving are a stepson, Gene of Ridgefield, Connecticut; a sister, Thelma Lewis of Monroe; a grandchild, Ric Jarnagin of Arlington, Virginia; a nephew, Rodger Lewis of Monroe; a great grandchild and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Don Lukin and Fred Shewmaker; and daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Ralph Jarnagin.
