Rites Held For Daniel Sheeler
Funeral services for Daniel A. Sheeler, 84, were conducted by the Rev. Russell G. Nye Monday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery under the direction of the Crumpacker Funeral Home.
Daniel Austin Sheeler was born in Hedrick, Iowa, January 27, 1868, the son of Isaiah and Harriet Mosier Sheeler.
Following a rather extended illness, he died at his home in Monroe Saturday, May 3, 1952 at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 6 days.
He came to Jasper county when a child and was a resident here except for 15 years spent in Wisconsin. He was married to Margret Jane McConeghey September 24, 1890, in Monroe. To this union was born three children.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheeler united with Tool’s Chapel Methodist church in 1895 and devoted more than half a century in loving and faithful Christian service.
Those surviving are his wife, Margret, one daughter, Jeanette Pickens of Newton, two sons, Dr. Ivan H. Sheeler of Des Moines and Dr. Rex L. Sheeler of Council Bluffs, two grandsons, John and Max Sheeler, and four great grandchildren. Also one brother, Howard Sheeler of Monroe, and two sisters, Mrs. Oakley Jarnagan and Mrs. John Palmer, both of Des Moines, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Howard Sheeler, Jr., Oakley Hagan, Roy Vaughn, Glen McConeghey, Pete McConeghey and Bert McConeghey.
Music was furnished by Mrs. William Lewis. Mrs. Charles Morrison and Mrs. Don Morrison were in charge of floral tributes.
