Former Monroe Druggist Dies in Des Moines
Monroe – Fred Shaw, 69, Des Moines druggist, formerly of here, died about noon Tuesday in Des Moines. He had been in ill health for sometime and had not been working in the drug store since around April.
A former native of Monroe, he operated a drug store here before moving to Des Moines about 30 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gertie Shaw; daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Fitzsimmons, of Des Moines; and a son, George, in Washington state. Mrs. Virgil Hummel, of Newton, is a sister-in-law. Short funeral services will be held Friday at their home in Des Moines at 10 o’clock, followed by services at the Crumpacker Funeral home here at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in the Monroe cemetery.
