Life Story of Fred A. Shaw
Services for Fred A. Shaw, 87, former Monroe resident, were held recently in Memphis, Tenn.
Surviving are a son, Fred A. of Jackson, Miss.; three daughters, Mrs. James Hyde, Mrs. Lenore S. Tate and Mrs. George (Judy) Terwilliger, all of Hialeah, Fla.; two brothers, G. H. Shaw, Alexandria, La., and Harry Shaw, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and three sisters, Mrs. James Marshall, Mrs. Mark Valentine and Mrs. Emily Valentine, all of Monroe.
Born in Coventry, England, he came with his parents to the United States as a child, moving to Monroe from Park City, Utah, in 1887. He was a resident of the Tools Chapel neighborhood and a member of the Tools Chapel church until 1921 when the family moved to Horn Lake, Miss.
In 1923 he became a livestock specialist for Gayoso Farms in Horn lake and showed prize-winning cattle and swine throughout the country. He later became a livestock specialist for South Memphis stockyards. He moved from Mississippi to Hialeah, Fla., where he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hyde.
Mr. Shaw was a member of the Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World.
He died in a hospital in Hialeah.
Mrs. Mark Valentine, Monroe, attended services.
